Safe Place For Animals

April Marie is a treasure and fits into our family beautifully. It is as if she has always been with us. She and the other dogs all get along great. My mom said she acts as if she has always been part of the 'herd'.
As for vet work, we have not been as fortunate. She has been to the vet twice already and will be going today for another checkup. The first appt we took her to was to set up a dental appt and have her checked out overall. She had a severe bacterial infection in her mouth thus she had to be on anti-biotics for a week before they could even do the dental work to try to clean up her mouth some, and that helped. The next week they did the dental work and her teeth, what was left as a great deal were already gone, were extremely bad. She lost all of her teeth but twelve. However, she is now eating great, and she feels wonderful. They did a fecal test and she had hookworms. She has received one round of wormer and will receive another in two more weeks. During the surgery they checked her throat for scar tissue buildup as that happens when the vocal cords have been cut. That, thankfully, came back clear but her tonsils were quite swollen. She started coughing right after we got her home and the vet said it could possibly be kennel cough but as the rest of our dogs are not coughing he said the swollen tonsils could have been from the bacterial infection in her mouth, and/or allergies. Thus, she was on another med for that and additional antibiotics for her mouth and teeth.  She has only coughed once since being on the meds and we just finished them up yesterday. She goes today to get her tonsils checked again.
So, we have been very busy with her but it's well worth it as she is extremely loving and we can tell she is feeling better as she is starting to play with us and the other dogs.
We thank you so much for the opportunity to adopt her as she is a gem of a little girl and we love her!
Attached are a few pics of her. We haven't been able to get alot yet due to weather but also, she is busy and won't stand still...typical min pin :)
I will send more pics and better ones as we get them!

UPDATE: April Marie - Hi Diana
I don't know if you remember Ty and I, but we drove down from Valparaiso, IN (outside of Chicago) a year ago this month to adopt April Marie, or Little Girl, and we wanted to give you an update on her. First, we can't thank you enough for allowing us to adopt her as she is so sweet and loving. She fits into our family as if she has always been here. She and our Shepherd, Boxer and other Min Pin all get along wonderfully.  She has finally learned how to play and loves to play tug of war with an old sock. She also bounces at our feet to play and likes to fly around the house at mach speed. She is so cute when she runs fast because she tucks her little hinny and just flies.  She is happy and healthy and we believe she knows that she is at her forever home.
Attached are some pictures showing our Little Girl. She is such a pretty, petite little girl. Enjoy!
We hope that everything is going well for you and SPA. Thank you again for allowing us to adopt such a grand little lady, we just love her!
